As we move towards the final month of our 2013-2014 season here are some reminders of upcoming events registration dates here at the school.
- Happy Victoria Day Weekend to everyone! Also a reminder that there are regularly scheduled lessons on Saturday May 17. There are no regularly scheduled lessons on Monday May 19th (Victoria Day).
- Imagine! Baroque Music House Concert Saturday May 17.
This is our final house concert of the 2013-2014 season. more info is available here. - Final June Concert – as published in the March News our final concert is Sunday June 15th at 1:30 pm at All Saints Church in Ladner. Sign up sheets for this recital will be up on Thursday May 15 one month in advance.
- Early Registration for returning students. Early Registration for fall 2014 begins Wednesday May 21st. Current students have a chance to book lesson times for the fall before open registration begins in Mid June. Most registration forms were sent home with students this week, and all families were sent copies by email. See our Registration page for more details.
- South Delta Jazz Festival – Early Registration discount ends May 28. Please register now for our annual Jazz Fest, it is going to be a great event! More details are available at www.southdeltajazzfestival.com

A reminder that the DCMS Scholarship audition and recital is Saturday May 10 starting at 2:30 pm with the Junior division at the music school. The Senior division will follow shortly at around 3:00 pm.
Our adjudicator this year is Dr. Barrie Barrington from Douglas College.

Imagine! is a concert of Baroque music that celebrates fantasy and creativity. The program includes musical animal caricatures, a 300 year old high school graduation present, and a cantata marvelous enough to capture the imagination of Pluto, god of the underworld. Audience members will have a chance to join the creative fun, inventing stories to accompany one of the musical selections. Curious listeners of all ages are most welcome to attend. Tickets are available for $20/$10 for students.
The concert performers all specialize in performing early music. Soprano, Jane Long has a Master’s Degree from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England. She is now based in Vancouver, and performs with Early Music Vancouver, musica intima, and others. Arthur Neele plays the Baroque violin. He is currently a member of the Pacific Baroque Orchestra and regularly appears with Early Music Vancouver’s Festival Orchestra and Cantata Players. Cellist, Marina Hasselberg’s musical interests extend from Baroque music on historical instruments to newly commissioned works that she performs with her group, the NOVO Ensemble. Christina Hutten has studied and performed on the organ and harpsichord in North American and Europe. She is now studying musicology at the University of British Columbia.
