Musicians

Barrie Barrington earned his B.Mus at Brandon Unuversity and both his M. Mus
and DMA at the University of British Columbia. While at UBC, he studied with the
well-known pianist, Robert Silverman. Barrie has taught at Douglas College since 1984
as an instructor in private and class piano. Aside from his teaching duties, Barrie performs
both solo and chamber music recitals and has performed concertos with several orchestras
in the lower mainland area of BC. He is an active adjudicator and clinician
throughout Western Canada.

Colleen Clarke earned her B. Mus. in Voice Performance from Brandon University.
She sang with the Vancouver Chamber Choir, touring in both Canada and the United
States. She currently teaches voice and performs as a soloist throughout the Lower
Mainland.

Frances Armstrong has studied piano for the past 9 years. Currently, her music
studies are divided between Alan Crane, at the VSO School of Music, and Bruce Vogt,
at the UVic School of Music. She proved her abilities on stage and became a consistent
scholarship winner in local festivals. Frances works as an accompanist for the Arbutus
Music Academy, at the VSO School of Music for voice classes, and for the VSO School
of Music Choir.

Patricia Armstrong is an active teacher and performer of violin and viola. She studied
at UBC, The Victoria Conservatory of Music, and U. of Toronto. She has played
with Tafelmusik, several symphonies and is currently principal 2nd violinist with the
Vancouver Opera Orchestra.

Sandy Hackleman has played flute and piccolo as a freelance musician for the Calgary
Philharmonic, Vancouver Symphony and Opera Orchestras, and principal flute in
the Pittsfield Philharmonic in Massachusetts. She has had a long career as both a flute
instructor and music teacher in schools, and now is enjoying singing in the Lyric Chorus,and volunteering in an ensemble which performs in retirement residences.
